We invite you to organise an event The European Day of Sustainable Communities on 19th September 2020 is a celebration of local communities taking action for a zero-carbon, regenerative and inclusive Europe.
If you are helping to transform your community in the face of ecological and climate breakdown, join us in co-creating the day! #EDSC20
Last year communities in 27 countries organised hundreds of events to mark the day. They hosted conferences, open days, apple harvests, tours, concerts, shared meals and much more.
Check out the gallery below for ideas!
We invite you to organise an event between 12th and the 26th September 2020.
To mark the day this year we will launch Communities for Future, a new action programme to inspire and enable communities to take action.
Here’s a taster of community-led action in Europe: ‘Local, community-led: a new future unfolding’.
Community-led climate action is the great untold story of the global response to the climate and ecological crisis. It’s time to applaud this amazing work!
There are thousands of communities across Europe – renewable energy cooperatives, community farms and gardens, ecological housing projects and many more – who are taking creative action.
Research shows these community-led initiatives are highly effective in reducing ecological footprints, building social capital and enhancing local economies. Yet they are largely on the edge of mainstream society.
#EDSC20 helps give these communities the profile they deserve. #EDSC20 helps inspire people and build policy makers’ support.
And for communities, it’s a moment to celebrate.
Plan your event for September! Registration opens 28th April 2020. Register your event here and it will appear on the European Day of Sustainable Communities map. You will then be a co-creator of the Day.
