Training Fair – Managing and Funding your Community Group
September 21 @ 9:00 am - 5:00 pm
Last year Co Wicklow PPN held its first training fair and its biggest community event to date. It was so beneficial to community groups and volunteers that they asked if Co Wicklow PPN would make it an annual event. Hoping to build on last year’s success, this year’s training fair will take place on Saturday 21st September in The Brockagh Centre, Laragh. Workshops this year include: Funding your group; Getting the most out of Social Media; Charitable Status & the Governance Code; Running effective meetings; Mental health & wellbeing in the community; GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation); Good governance – where to start; Health & Safety for your group; and Attracting Volunteers. The spotlight on a PPN member group will showcase Laragh/Glendalough Tidy Towns and their work as a tidy towns committee, setting up a sustainable energy community and establishing a community garden. A visit to the community garden will be included. There will be lots of information stands from organisations that support community groups and lunch will be provided with contributions from local community cafés.
Helen Howes, Resource Worker for Co Wicklow PPN said, “We were delighted with the feedback we got from last year’s event. Groups and volunteers seemed to get so many benefits from the workshops, exhibition stands and the networking and peer support. This year is also built around what our member groups indicated they need help with and we hope it will be every bit as good if not better!”
This is a free event and booking is essential. Five of the ten workshops are already booked out and waiting lists have been started in case of cancellations. To book a workshop go to the Co Wicklow PPN website www.countywicklowppn.ie, click the Training Fair tab on the top of the page and use the online form. Alternatively call Grainne on 086 048 7434.
